Sunday Morning Volunteering

Ushering, Altar Flowers, and more!

At First Parish in Lincoln, Sunday services are a collective effort. Whether you’re new or have been around for a while, there’s always a way to get involved and make a difference. Sign up to usher or provide altar flowers using the links below, or reach out to the deacons to learn more.

Ushering is simple and a great way to connect with and help out the community. Ushers arrive at 9:30am to prepare the space in collaboration with the deacon of the month. They provide a warm welcome to everyone who comes through the door, offering an Order of Service, name tag, and help finding a seat.

Directions will be emailed to you when you sign up, and the Deacon of the month will be on hand to answer questions. If you have experience with ushering, please consider signing up for the “experienced usher slot.” This person will coordinate tasks among the ushers and make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. Use the button below to sign up for an upcoming service!

Altar Flowers are a beautiful focal point in the service, and are often given in celebration or memory of a person, or an important occasion. You may bring your own flowers or reach out to our Flower Committee to collaborate on providing an arrangement for an upcoming service. Use the button below to sign up. If you would like, please type your flower dedication in the comment box when you sign up.

Our hospitality volunteers provide light refreshments for Coffee Hour after church each Sunday. A two person team commits to one Sunday each month (September-June), arriving around 30 minutes prior to worship to set up, and staying after to tidy the kitchen/Stearns Room and run the dishwasher. Contact Jane O’Rourke if you would like to join our team!
