Dr. Lily Geismer, Associate Professor of History at Claremont McKenna College, and author of Don’t Blame Us, Suburban Liberals and the Transformation of the Democratic Party (Princeton University Press, 2015) and Left Behind: The Democrats’ Failed Attempt to Solve Inequality. Dr. Geismer focuses on 20th century political and urban history.

Dr. Geismer examines the results of post-war federal policies and local suburbanization and their impacts on race and class in residential patterns in Lincoln and surrounding towns. Have our liberal commitments prevented the kinds of structural changes we need today for a more equitable society?
