THE FORUM | WHY PRONOUNS MATTER
Recorded on Sunday, January 21, 2024
Presented by the Open & Welcoming Task Force

Pronouns Matter! At the annual meeting in 2023, FPL approved an expanded resolution to welcome and affirm the lives of all people without regard to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. The Open and Welcoming Task Force (OWTF) was established to help FPL live into this resolution. To this end, on January 21 the OWTF hosted a forum after worship to help attendees understand the importance and power of a person’s pronouns. The forum started with attendees viewing a 15 minute video on the importance of pronoun usage and then followed that viewing with a guided discussion. If you were unable to attend the forum you can view the TedX talk we watched together below. The second video is the recording of our discussion that followed. We encourage everyone to watch the video and discussion. Embracing the practice of sharing and using each person’s pronouns is a powerful tool becoming a more open and welcoming congregation. Members of the OWTF are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to reach out to us directly at OandW-TF@fplincoln.org or CLICK HERE to share your thoughts via an online form.
