October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. At the invitation of the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable, the Parish Committee has voted to join other local public and religious buildings in neighboring Sudbury and Wayland to shine the light on Domestic Violence by shining a purple light on the Stearns Room porch for the month of October.

The Roundable shares: “The color purple embodies peace, courage, survival, honor, and a steadfast dedication to ending the cycle of abuse. By illuminating a building with a purple light, we send a powerful message of support and hope to those affected by domestic abuse. It’s a simple yet profound way to show we care. Together, we can create a sea of purple lights that symbolizes our community’s commitment to fostering safety and healing.”

We also look forward to welcoming First Parish in Lincoln’s Preston grant recipient REACH (Reach Beyond Domestic Violence) who will be visiting worship during our “Time for Outreach” on Sunday, October 26 to share more about the Empowerment program FPL has helped support. REACH provides survivors of domestic violence with safety, shelter, and a community-based path to healing and empowerment.

If you are concerned that you or someone in your life might be experiencing relationship abuse, local support can be found on the Roundtable website at https://www.domesticviolenceroundtable.org.
