School has started, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over!
We are gearing up for a great year in RE & can’t wait to start having fun with your kids! Check out the RE calendar on the website HERE.
And don’t forget to register your family for RE HERE. It helps us plan and keep kids safe!

VOLUNTEER
RE has some amazing ways for you to get involved right now!
There are so many ways to help! Sign up to help in RE on Sundays HERE. From dropping off breakfast for 6th & 7th graders, to being an additional supportive adult in our programs or being on our sub list (no prep needed!), all tasks help support the RE program and build community! If you’d like to help, but can’t find the right fit, come talk with us!
*CORIs: All volunteers in RE are required to fill out a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) form. Please print the form from the link HERE and bring a signed copy to Silvia in the admin office (it must be filled out at least 2 weeks before volunteering).
Teen Trip to Cradles to Crayons on September 14th
Teens are volunteering at Cradles to Crayons on September 14th. Check out their needs list & bring donations to the RE office before 9/14.
*Interested Teens, SIGN UP HERE to reserve your spot for the trip (space is limited)! We’ll meet at FP at 12noon to carpool to Cradles to Crayons (located at 281 Newtonville Avenue, Newton, MA). We will work onsite from 1-3pm; pick up will be at FP at 4pm.
Help us fill backpacks in RE on Rally Day, September 15th!
School on Wheels distributes school essentials to over 9,000 kids in need each year. On 9/15, kids in RE will fill backpacks to send to School on Wheels. You can help by bringing donations of backpacks (new or gently used) along with school supplies to the RE office on or before that date, OR shop our Amazon List HERE! THANK YOU!!
8th grade OWL
Yes! We will be offering OWL for 8th graders this year! OWL (Our Whole Lives) is a respected comprehensive sexuality education program offered by UCC/UU churches. This secular program lasts 12 weeks and is age-appropriate and inclusive. Participants do not need to belong to First Parish. There is a $150 fee for the course, but assistance is available. Please look for a Parent Orientation date and registration coming soon!
Have you seen the RE library lately?
We have a growing variety of wonderful books in the RE office for all to enjoy! Are you looking for resources on a particular topic (nature, parenting, racism, GLBTQ+, etc.) or just need something different to read to your kids? You are welcome to come look, & take a few home with you! We just ask that you fill out the info on the clipboard and return them when you’re finished!
RE Past Crafts…
Did your child make a beautiful one-of-a-kind craft in RE and forget to bring it home? Stop by the RE office to see if anything looks familiar! There are hand painted bags, chalices and candle holders!
