Welcome to March! Our Spring program has begun!
Intergenerational Services.
On the first Sundays of each month, we invite children in grades 1 & up to join us for a kid-friendly church service in the Sanctuary. There are different ways for kids to participate and the children’s choir usually performs. There are also fun orders of worship (or church programs) with coloring & puzzles. The Parish House is open for programs as usual on these days for Nursery (ages 0-3) and Pre K- K (ages 4 & 5). Children in Pre K-K who are also in the choir can choose to stay or be walked up the hill after singing.
On other Sundays, we have programming in the Parish House for the following groups:
Dreamers (ages 0-3):
Offering consistent care and age-appropriate activities often following a theme. Children are introduced to concepts like sharing, listening, climbing, imaginary play, and being part of a community.
Explorers (Pre K-K): “Spirit Play”
Uses the Montessori model with stories and crafts to introduce our covenant and Call to Ministry and explore broad spiritual themes & values such as being helpful, kindness, goodness, etc. while fostering independence, responsibility, sharing, etc.
Seekers (grades 1-2): “Special Times”
Acquaints the group with Jewish and Chrisitan heritages, engaging them through celebrations associated with both and by exploring the importance of rituals, celebrations, & traditions.
Trailblazers (grades 3-5): “Kingdom of Equals”
Jesus’ insistence on the equality of all and the courage to stand up to society’s belief otherwise is the main focus. The group will use their bibles to explore stories of radical non-violence, fairness and equality.
Wayfinders (grades 6-7): “Finding Our Values”
Follows modern television shows to find messages representing our values, such as individual worth, truth & meaning, dignity and peace & justice. After viewing short clips from shows like Gilmore Girls, Ted Lasso, & Young Sheldon, the group will discuss related themes, and create projects to share at the end of the year.
8th grade: “Our Whole Lives”
Comprehensive Sexuality Education program began in November. The 12 week program ends on March Mar. 15. Group meets weekly to explore themes such as consent, values, sexuality, relationships, contraception, etc.
Youth Group (teens):
Explores service, volunteering and community building through various opportunities such as service activities, trips, and organizing our annual Youth Sunday.
