Welcome to a new year! In RE, it’s Winter Workshop time! We have wonderful programs planned for January! We are excited to offer workshops hosted by our multi-talented congregation! On Winter Workshop Sundays (Jan. 11th & 25th) we will offer 2 workshops- one for younger kids aged 4-7, and another for older kids aged 8-13. We’ll also need plenty of helpers, so please sign up to lend an extra hand. You’ll get to have fun with our kids and you may learn something, too!

On Sundays when there is an intergenerational service or winter workshop, our Nursery will be open for our youngest friends (babies to age 3) on the lower level of the Parish House beginning at 9:30am.

January 4       Intergenerational Service

The first Sunday of each month is a special one where kids in 1st grade & above are invited to attend service in the Sanctuary, but it’s no regular service- there will be kids’ activities in the bulletin, kid friendly messages, youth participation and the children’s choir!

January 11     Winter Workshops!

Paper Making (for ages 4-7)
Akemi Martin is no longer doing a paper making workshop. Instead, Corey Flint is hosting a Photography workshop! He’ll bring different lenses and talk about how photography helps us see things in a different light.

Spices from Around the World (for ages 8-13)
Have you ever wondered where some spices come from or how they’re used? FPL mom and Spice Expert, Christine Size will share where spices come from around the world and how they grow! We will sniff our way around the globe while learning a little bit about the history of the spice trade and how we use spices today. We will also sample some spiced goodies to eat.

January 18     No RE. Happy MLK Day!

January 25     Winter Workshops!

Painting (for ages 4-7)
Kate Dahmen is an FPL mom & Artist! She is happy to be back to paint with our younger friends, using a variety of tools to create masterpieces! We’ll use water-soluble paints, but don’t wear anything fancy today! We will be getting creative (& possibly messy)!

Paper Mache Lanterns (for ages 8-13)
Anne Forbes Van Nest will be helping the group create works of art from nature. She will bring items she’s collected so kids can make their own unique sculptures.

February 1     Intergenerational Service and Lincoln Winter Carnival

After an engaging Sunday service for all ages, kids are invited up the hill to the Parish House for a fun candle making workshop as part of the Lincoln Winter Carnival!

We will offer varying levels of skill/difficulty so kids from FPL and the community ages 4 & up can make their own candles. Seasonal snacks will also be available.
