Outreach Sunday, March 22: Our Homeless Neighbors
This special service will focus on the mounting problem of homelessness in the greater Boston area and how FPL members, through our Outreach Committee, our high school youth group, and other collective and individual efforts are working to understand and help meet the mounting needs. Our guest minister will be Rev. Rebecca Sheble-Hall, Executive Director of Chaplains on the Way, winner of a FPL 2019 Jean Wood Preston grant to promote a sense of community and purpose among Waltham’s homeless folks. Her sermon, “Chaplains on the Way: Creating Covenant and Causing a Ruckus” will tell the story of how a group of people, some experiencing homelessness and some recently housed, have created a covenant and used it to advocate for their needs in the city of Waltham. Members of the FPL high school youth group, the Outreach Committee, and other FPL-ers will take part.

Outreach Newsletter: Editor Needed
The Outreach Committee is looking for an editor of our highly-successful newsletter (6 issues, September – May) to succeed our founding editor, committee-mate Jillian Darling. The job takes about six hours of work per month assembling and formatting text and visuals contributed by others, with lots of room for creativity as the spirit moves. Knowledge of or willingness to learn mailchimp software required, but Sarah Klockowski will provide as needed. Outreach Committee membership strictly optional. If you’re interested, please contact Outreach Chair Larry Buell (lbuell@fas.harvard.edu or 781-910-8531 [cell]).

Lincoln Food Pantry: Volunteer Drivers Needed
The Lincoln Food Pantry, an FPL partner organization located behind St. Joseph Church across from the Lincoln Station mall, is now open twice a month, as of January 2020. The Pantry gives out more than 5,000 lb of food each month, and the demand is increasing. More volunteers are urgently needed to drive to the Greater Boston Food Bank in Boston for food supplies. Volunteers must be able to load crates of food—preferably with a van, SUV or pickup truck. Drivers usually go in pairs, during the week between 8am and 3pm. The commitment is flexible, once a month or every other month. If you can help, please contact Pantry Director Karen Boyce karenboyce620@gmail.com or 781-259-9303.

Charity Partner News: Friends of Matenwa Honor FPL’s Barbara Sampson
On Valentine’s Day, the Friends of Matenwa Learning Center (Haiti), a long-term FPL charity partner and recipient of our 2019 special Thanksgiving offering, paid tribute to our own Barbara Sampson, Matenwa’s Co-Founder and President for the past decade, for her many years of crucial service, during which time Matenwa has blossomed into a model school and teacher training center. During the past two decades, Barbara has played the crucial role in keeping us at FPL abreast of developments at Matenwa, not least by hosting Matenwa staff at our worship services and arranging visits by FPL members to Haiti.
