Each year the Outreach Committee calls upon our fellow parishioners to nominate worthy small nonprofit organizations for FPL’s Jean Wood Preston Competition.
Thanks to the generosity of the late Mrs. Preston’s bequest, we are able to award 3-4 grants annually in the $5000 – $25,000 range for Capital Improvement and Transformative Innovation. (By Transformative Innovation is meant a program or staff enhancement that promises to take the organization to a new level of accomplishment.)
Recent Preston winners are described in the Outreach section of the FPL website (first item under the “Justice” tab). As you will quickly see, their range of areas has been very great: food and housing security, immigrant and refugee services, prisoner education and support, health services to the underserved, and much more.
A sizeable fraction of Preston grant winners were first called to our attention by nominations from our fellow parishioners. We have been very grateful for this support over the years, and we ask again for your help now.
If you know of any well-run small organizations that you believe would benefit from a Preston grant, please send your nominations by November 15 to fplgiving@gmail.com.
Many thanks your help at this crucial time in our year’s cycle.
