Jean Wood Preston Grants Competition for 2023-4 — Call for Nominations
The Outreach Committee asks your help and support as it launches this year’s Preston grant competition. Thanks to an endowment made possible by the generous bequest of the late Jean Wood Preston, during the past eight years First Parish has awarded more than a score of  grants of $5000-$25,000 for capital improvement or transformative innovation to worthy nonprofit organizations in the greater Boston region.

Recent winners—including several that came to our attention only because of recommendations by individual FPL members and friends—have been given in all the following areas and more: food security, medical services, racial equity, environmentalism, alleviation of homelessness, and more. For a listing of some recent winners, CLICK HERE.

This year we expect to be able to award $75,000 in new grants to 3-4 organizations, depending on the quality of the applications—usually 6-10 for each of the two kinds of grant. During the next two weeks we shall be sending applications materials and invitations to apply to several dozen organizations. The deadline for submission is January 31, 2024.

We welcome nominations from members and friends of FPL of small, well-run nonprofit organizations within a radius of 30-40 miles of Lincoln. Please send your nominations to fplgiving@gmail.com by November 1. If possible
