Partakers Prison Mentoring
Partakers Prison Mentoring
“I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25)
We have a group of over 30 volunteers who regularly visit incarcerated college students through a program called Partakers College Behind Bars. Each volunteer team of four visits, guides, encourages, and corresponds with an inmate who is pursuing their college degree at Boston College or another local university.
This work is transformative and eye-opening. The schedule for visiting is flexible, and the mentor role is to offer friendship and support, in the spirit of human connection. Joining the Partakers mentors is also a great way to get to know more folks at First Parish, as we visit in pairs.
More mentors are needed at MCI-Shirley, a 30-minute drive from First Parish. If you’d like to learn more about becoming a mentor, please let Rev. Nate know (nate@fplincoln.org).
