We hope you can join us for an informative and rich evening on Zoom as we begin to transition to the Action Module.  As part of our journey, we will be learning what nearby churches are doing as part of their Racial Justice Journey.

Rev. Elizabeth Lerner Maclay will discuss ongoing historical research into the origins of the First Unitarian Church of Providence and its connection with slavery.  Rev. Maclay, Senior Minister, offers “vivid threads, in the fabric of a rich and complicated history”.  First U, as it is affectionately called, has commissioned a report by a Brown University Researcher.  The report addresses the dimensions of the business of slavery in RI and in Providence, how that business affected politics and culture, how it affected the lives of Black people, and how the First U and its members related to all of this.
