WHO:  Dr. Thea James is Vice President of Mission and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Boston Medical Center (BMC). She is the Director of BMC Violence Intervention Advocacy Program and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine.

Immersed in issues of urban America’s health inequities, Dr. James also has vast global experience in emergency medicine and is the recipient of numerous awards for her lifetime achievements of medical service.

WHAT:  Dr. James will share her insights, expertise, and experience on the intersection of race and health in Boston, addressing some of the following questions:

  • How did health inequities in Boston arise and how have they persisted?
  • What are the links with challenges in housing, economic development, and other social issues?
  • How can communities in Greater Boston create effective partnerships to build healthy communities?
