We’ll read and discuss a handful of poems by the Chicago poet (after whom Nate and Kit named their second child!). Gwendolyn Brooks’ oeuvre mixes odes and protest poems, celebrations of family life and spiritual questioning.
If Thou be more than hate or atmosphere,
Step forth in splendor, mortify our wolves,
