Join us for a contemplative, centering service as we begin the season of Advent and kick off our December worship theme of “Dazzling Darkness.” The Book of Exodus speaks about God dwelling inside “thick darkness” or “fog.” The Zen Buddhist teacher Dogen says, “To study the self is to forget the self.” Nate will talk about how the sacred might be found in our moments of uncertainty, lostness, and even despair. The choir will sing the spiritual “Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning” (with special guest Ryan Loud on the congas), and the Zweidler-McKay family will light our first Advent candle. Up the hill, children of all ages are invited to our annual Advent Workshop!
